Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the number one streamed music at that period within the space of six months. The single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton and pop, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also brought more attention to Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish in 2016, compared to two in the year 2015. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks which made it into the Top 100. And in 2020 there were 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. In the following months, several artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars including Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma with Medellin 2019. Certain reggaeton performers lamented the trend towards mainstream music in 2020. A newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the growth and evolution of reggaeton.
